SPJ Las Vegas Journalism Scholarship

Current college students studying journalism at a Southern Nevada college in order to pursue a future career in journalism may apply for the scholarship. Student must have a 2.5 or higher college GPA to apply and plan to study journalism at a Southern Nevada college during the upcoming school year. One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded.

This scholarship is being administered by the Public Education Foundation. Applicants must fill out the application and submit a current college transcript and one work sample. The application deadline was March 20, 2022.

    Congratulations to Alex Wright, a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and winner of the 2021-2022 inaugural SPJ Las Vegas Journalism Scholarship! Alex is the editor-in-chief of the Scarlet & Gray Free Press and is finishing out his final few semesters at the university.

“I wanted to say thank you to all of the donors and everyone at the Society of Professional Journalists of Las Vegas who made this scholarship,” he wrote. “I have known for a long time that I wanted to be a journalist and this scholarship will help me out a lot as I finish out my last three semesters at UNLV and pursue a career in journalism.”
